AURORA, CO. – Cherry Creek State Park will close to boating on Wednesday, Nov. 30, at 6 p.m. due to the seasonal closure of the aquatic nuisance species (ANS) vessel inspection stations. The reservoir will be closed to both motorized and non-motorized vessels. ANS inspectors at Cherry Creek have inspected over 20,000 vessels, applied over 6,000 vessel inspection seals, and decontaminated 10 vessels so far this boating season. Cherry Creek Reservoir will reopen for boating on March 1, 2012, weather permitting.
The current water temperature in the reservoir is a frigid 43 degrees, so if you intend to go out on the water. Please be careful and dress accordingly. Remember that you must have at least one (1) personal flotation device (PFD) for everyone on board the vessel along with other required safety items. Also, please pay close attention while boating at Cherry Creek due to late season weather conditions because the majority of the buoys have been removed from the water and some obstacles may not be marked.
