Trinidad Lake State Park Announces Seasonal Closures for Camping and Boating

TRINIDAD, CO. – Trinidad Lake State Park will close the South Shore Campground and campsites 24-63 in the Carpios Ridge Campground on Saturday, Oct. 15 for the winter. Campsites 1-23 on Carpios Ridge will remain open through the winter, along with the family restrooms in the camper services building. All campground sites will reopen for camping on May 1, 2012.
Due to ice conditions and the need to prevent the spread of aquatic nuisance species, the dock at the boat ramp will be pulled in December and the lake closed to boating between Dec. 1, 2011 and Feb. 28, 2012.
In an effort to manage reduced state budgets, Colorado Parks and Wildlife is making the most efficient use of limited staff resources. Colorado State Parks are required to generate revenue from visitors through fees and other charges to pay for the park’s operating costs. All Colorado State Parks need to allocate staff and resources based on visitor and there are fewer visitors in the winter months.
