FishExplorer.com brings online fishing resource to California
9/27/2011
A one-stop source for freshwater fishing information in California is now a click away.
FishExplorer.com, a complete Internet package of local freshwater conditions, species information, expert advice, maps, travel insights and connections with other sportsmen, has launched for California anglers beginning September 23.
With FishExplorer.com, California sportsmen can follow blogs and articles provided by local Field Editors throughout the state, follow trends in the sport, and post their own experiences and observations about fishing. The site currently monitors fishing conditions at 50 lakes across the state, with additional lakes and rivers to be added.
Joshua Christensen, a Murrieta-based angler, outdoors writer and U.S. Army veteran, will lead FishExplorer.com in California as its State Editor. With a passion for bass fishing, Christensen currently runs the Yak Fishing Addicts Club for kayak fishing enthusiasts and is a member of the Hobie Fishing Team. He blogs for Hook 1 Kayak Fishing Gear and has contributed to kayakfishinggear.com and austinkayak.com.
Christensen will be joined at FishExplorer.com by a team of three Field Editors at the onset. Together they will share their respective insights on local lakes, techniques, and developments in the California freshwater fishing community. As an online community, FishExplorer.com also gives all the state’s anglers "the ability to have a positive impact within the culture they live and breathe," Christensen said.
With Christensen at the helm, FishExplorer.com provides a platform for posting and tracking up-to-date reports on conditions for the state’s favorite freshwater lakes, with a focus on water temperature and levels. Fish Explorer is actively recruiting local volunteers to monitor the waters on a daily basis, making possible for avid anglers to pick the right fishing spot before hooking up the boat.
With its entry into California, FishExplorer.com now serves three of the country’s top sates for recreational fishing. Since starting in Colorado in 2006, FishExplorer has also expanded into Texas and Florida.
FishExplorer.com was created by avid angler Matt Snider as a solution for his own questions about the best places to launch his boat and where to find the fish he was looking for. Since starting in April 2006, FishExplorer.com has become the most visited Colorado-based fishing website and resource that is changing the way anglers find and share information about their enthusiasm for fishing.
This one-of-a-kind service has already registered over 26,500 members and attracts 60,000 unique visitors and 1.5 million page views each month―rates that continue to grow. The site’s popularity has generated interest among California fishermen who have become followers of the site. That fact has influenced FishExplorer.com’s expansion into the state.
