Colorado Parks and Wildlife commissioners meet September 15 and 16, 2011 at the Doubletree Hotel, 1775 E. Cheyenne Mountain Blvd. in Colorado Springs.

Among the numerous issues the commissioners will be covering of special interest to anglers are the draft regulations relating to fishing. The following is reproduced from the meeting agenda:

Chapter 1 - Fishing and those related provisions of Chapter 0 and Chapter 9 necessary to accommodate changes to or ensure consistency with Chapter 1. Open for annual review of the entire chapter including, but not limited to, consideration of regulations regarding seasons and season dates, bag and possession limits, licensing requirements, manner of take provisions and special conditions or restrictions applicable to waters of the state, including, but not limited to, the following: Allowing bowfishing as a manner of take for kokanee salmon during periods and in areas otherwise open to snagging. Modifying regulations regarding the use of spearfishing, archery, and gigs to clarify that Commission prohibitions on these activities remain valid whether or not they are mirrored by land management agencies. Adding Redear Sunfish to the list of game fish with bag and possession limits. Reducing the possession limit for walleye at Carter Reservoir. Prohibiting the use of spearfishing, archery, and gigs to take northern pike at Williams Fork Reservoir. Increasing the lake trout daily bag limit in Williams Fork Reservoir to maintain a proper predator-prey balance.
