Colorado State Parks and Wildlife Press Release
DENVER -- Come join Colorado Parks and Wildlife for "Wild Times at St. Vrain State Park," on Saturday, Sept. 24. This family outdoor-skills event offers an opportunity for newcomers to sample outdoor recreation in Colorado.

"Have you ever wanted to try your hand at fishing, canoeing, or shooting?" said Mary McCormac, northeast region education coordinator. "This event will provide an opportunity for families to get a taste of wildlife-related recreation in the safe and fun environment of St. Vrain State Park. Get outdoors with us and make some memories!"

Outdoor activities, skills-building opportunities, and wildlife appreciation will round out this day of leisure at one of our state park jewels. Registration is $5 (no credit cards) and is limited to 100 attendees. A daily Colorado State Parks Pass ($7 per vehicle) or an annual pass is required and can be purchased at the park on the day of the event. Participants will receive instruction in the fine art of outdoor recreation and leave the event ready to get outside with confidence.

St. Vrain State Park is a family-friendly destination for visitors seeking a peaceful and simple outdoor break. Itís easy to reach along I-25 between Denver and Ft. Collins at Highway 119 (exit 240). $7 per vehicle entry fee required, or State Parks pass accepted. This nature and people-friendly park offers 604 acres of land and 152 acres of water split among several ponds. Itís a great place for anglers, campers, photographers, birders, walkers and anyone who loves nature.

WHERE: St. Vrain State Park, 3525 State Highway 119, Firestone

HOW: Register for event by calling 303 291-7804. $5 per registrant by cash or check, plus $7 Colorado Parks Pass required for entry to St. Vrain. Please wear comfortable shoes, sunscreen, and a hat. Lunch will be provided, as well as goody bags and raffle prizes.
