There is no defined trail to Chatfield Reservoir. Your best access is off County Road 8 (formerly State Highway 132). From there, take Forest Road 940 to its terminus at: 40.154114, -107.091692

From Phippsburg: Head south on CO-131 S toward Pine St 28 s (0.3 mi) Take County Road 15 to County Road 19 2 min (1.2 miles) County Road 19 to County Road 8 (Dunckley Pass) 3 min (1.9 mi) Continue on County Road 8 to Forest Road 940 (Little Flat Tops Road) 14 min (6.8 mi) Take Flat Tops Road to trailhead 18 min (4.4 mi)
