Getting there:

From Steve Schweitzer's A Fly Fishing Guide To Rocky Mountain National Park, flyfishingrmnp.com: On the east side of Grand Lake is the East Inlet Trailhead. Don't be deceived by the moderately easy hike for the first few miles of this trail. From 2.5 miles in, the trail gains significant altitude to all fishing destinations throughout. For the first two miles, the trail gradually climbs along East Inlet Creek, offering plenty of opportunity to fish near the trail. Only a third of a mile from the trailhead is picturesque Adams Falls, which is a big draw much of the trail traffic drops off from here. From Cat's Lair campsite to Lone Pine Lake, the trail breaks into a steep climb of roughly 1000 foot elevation gain over two miles. For the next 3.5 miles to just before Fourth Lake, the altitude gain is relatively flat, only gaining approximately 500 feet.
