After severe damage to Button Rock Preserve in the September 2013 flood, it reopened to the public on June 17, 2015. A special permit from Longmont is required at Ralph Price Reservoir inside Button Rock Preserve. Anglers may purchase up to four Ralph Price Reservoir fishing permits (annual or daily), but must present a current, valid Colorado Parks & Wildlife fishing license for each permit purc... Getting there:
Main Entrance - Button Rock Preserve
Take Highway 66 west (from Longmont) or Highway 36 north (from Boulder) into Lyons. Continue north out of Lyons on Highway 66/36 towards Estes Park. About three miles out of town, turn left onto County Road 80, aka Longmont Dam Road. Follow this dirt road about three miles to the end. The road ends at the parking lot and a large gate, for ranger and property-owner access. Parking is limited.
