Rim Rock Lake (Reservoir) is one of three lakes in the "Island Lake Grouping" on the Grand Mesa. This area has campgrounds, commercial lodging (cabins and motel rooms), fuel, food, bait and tackle, fishing licenses, and boat rentals nearby. The U.S. Forest Service's Grand Mesa Visitor Center is also close by, providing general information on the Grand Mesa area, and specifics for the angler. Log in for additional details...
Getting there:
From Cedaredge, go north on Highway 65 approximately 17 miles. Just past the Forest Service Visitor Center, take a left turn onto FS road 116 (often called Island Lake Rd.) which will skirt the south side of the lake. Go about 1.5 miles to the Island Lake Campground. You can park at the end of the campground drive loop and hike to the lake, or continue south on FS 115 using a four-wheel drive vehicle, ATV/UTV or horseback. Follow this road for 0.6 miles until a trail branches to the left. Hike 0.4 miles to the lake.
Alternatively, from Mesa travel 22.6 miles on Highway 65 to the marked turn for FS 116 on the right side of the road. Go to the end of the Island Lake Campground loop and follow directions listed above from the loop to the lake.
