Getting there:

To Forest Lakes Trailhead (by USFS): From Nederland, travel south for 4.5 miles on Colorado Highway 119 to Rollinsville. Turn west onto the gravel Gilpin County Road 16 and continue seven miles to the turnoff for the Moffat Road (National Forest System Road 149). This road is quite rough with many potholes and sections of one-lane road for the next 12 miles to the trailhead. To the East Portal Trailhead (by USFS): From Nederland, travel south for 4.5 miles on Colorado Highway 119 to Rollinsville. Turn west onto the gravel Gilpin County Road 16 and continue eight miles to the Moffat Tunnel. A large parking area is available at the East Portal Trailhead.
