General Details:

Thornton Gravel Ponds #2 and #3 are located adjacent to the South Platte River and Denver's South Platte River Trail. The ponds offer the opportunity to catch a number of species of fish including rainbow trout, largemouth bass, yellow perch and walleye. Pond #2 (the larger pond at 59 acres) is only open to fishing from the east side. Pond #3 (at 23 acres) is accessible by following the path from ... Log in for additional details...

Getting there:

Located at 88th Ave and Colorado Blvd Parking lot for Pond #2 (Main Parking lot) From I-25 Take the 104th Ave exit off I-25. Follow 104th Ave east to Colorado Blvd. Turn south on Colorado Blvd and head toward 88th Ave. At the light, continue south through the round-about following the road past the parking lot for the Denver South Platte River Trail until you enter the parking lot. Parking lot for Pond #3 From the intersection of Colorado Blvd and 88th Ave head west about 0.7 miles to Welby Road. Take Welby Road south and continue following the road as it turns into 86th Ave. Turn south on Steele St and follow it until you have passed the railroad tracks. The parking lot with be a short distance further on your left. (Pond #3 can also be reached by following the path on foot/bike from the main parking lot)
