Unofficially, the Grand Mesa is recognized as the largest flat top mountain in the world. With over 100 lakes and reservoirs containing habitat and conditions suitable for fish populations year-round, a multitude of trout species can be found in a relatively small area.

Getting there:
From Cedaredge, travel north on Highway 65 16.0 miles and turn right onto Forest Road 121 just past the Forest Service Visitor Center. Continue 0.3 mile and turn right into the Ward Lake campground area. Alternatively, travel another 0.2 miles past the campground entrance to the Wardway day use and picnic area.
From Mesa, travel south approximately 22.4 miles to FS121 and follow instructions above to campground or day-use area.
