General Details:

Smith Lake in Larimer County lies just north of Wellington Reservoir #4, not to be confused with several other Smith lakes and reservoirs across the state, the most popular of which is in Costilla County. It is also referred to as Boxelder Lake #3. The lake has a good diversity of warmwater fish and stocked trout, along with a decent population of gizzard shad. It is a smaller body of water wi... Getting there:

From I-25 at the Wellington exit, go .3 miles west on HWY 1 to CR7; then 1.4 miles north to CR66; then 2 miles west. Lake is on NE corner of CR66 and CR11.
