CPW:
"During late summer of 2012, Thurston Reservoir became the latest victim of the drought. The lake receded to the point that a major fish-kill occurred and the lake essentially became a total loss. Currently, a small muddy pool is all that remains at Thurston."

From Lamar, go 9 miles north on Highway 196 to County Road TT, then 1 mile west to County Road 7, then 1/4 mile north to the reservoir.
