In Routt National Forest and managed by Parks Ranger District. Hike in from the parking lots at Lower Big Creek or land your boat at the southern shore of Lower Big Creek Lake and walk from there to this pristine high mountain lake. Getting there:
From Walden go north 9 miles to Cowdrey. West on CR 6W for 18 miles to Pearl. Take FS Road 600 for 6 miles, following signs to Big Creek Lakes campground. You cannot drive to the Big Creek upper lake directly.
