Fishing Club

Post By: ghostdoghunter      Posted: 3/20/2007 9:09:57 PM     Points: 13
I have been throwing the idea around of starting a fishing club that has no affiliation to B.A.S.S. or FLW.

My idea is as follows. Have a tour around the state about 5 tournaments this year and about 7 next. Based on a point system. But each event will be a different fish species and lake.

But most of the proceeds from the events will go to charities around Colorado. This will be completely non profit.

Just wanted to get some opinions on if people would be interested in this.

Thanks

It would be a great idea" but you have to remember it would be nice if privately owned and ran, Now in this' is the problem" because the state would have its hand out and will give you some grief about it and want its cut, Talk to anyone who runs these tournaments" there is a lot of grief that is associated with going to a facility or lake that is not just your own" BUT a private club or contests that could be worked out charity benefit causes ( loop hole ) would be awesome without bureucratical B.S Involved

I run a tournament trail you might like to check out.

That is one of the major reasons I decided to do it this way. I know all about the work getting in the way. I work 12 hour shifts for 21 straight days a month. Doesn't leave a lot of time to run off to compete in tournaments.

I do understand; time, $$$, location, bills, beer money etc....

If I can help you in any way do not be afraid to ask.
I think what you are doing is a pretty good idea and I can offer some ideas, advice and maybe some equipment.

I appreciate that.

Well the first tournament dates are set. I am taking registrations now. And you can register at any time during the tournament as well.

March 28th to April 22nd.

If you are interested in taking part feel free to send me a email at fishing4charity@yahoo.com and I will send you a entry form with official rules.

A club sounds like a great idea. I am mostly interested in an edicational club that fishes for many different species.

Anyone sign up? I'm looking into it for next month when I have a block of time off.

Actually the first month has been pretty disappointing. I have only had 3 people actually sign up.

I am hoping for a better turn out next month.

It might be helpful to have a web site to direct people to and for comparing stats ect....the photos of the catches could be posted....just a thought. Of course this all costs $$. Also, a link or description of the charity. How do you decide on the charity by the way?

it would also be nice if you could know the fish in advance as I don't want to pay the money for a fish I know absolutely nothing about. Any chance you want to tell me what this months fish is ; )

I have given the web site a thought. I am trying to work a deal with yahoo and a couple other cheaper web site companies for a free site.

The reason I did not want to give the fish in advance is that if you catch a trout and you know trout will be coming up in a couple months what is to prevent you from keeping it in the freezer until then?? But at the same time it is pretty much a known that the main fish species will be the focus so you already know eventually trout will come into play.

As far as Charities go. I picked a few that I have donated to in the past for the first couple. I am willing to take suggestions on charities as long as they have Chapters in Colorado.

So far the Charities that are involved are Colorado Chapter of MS, Childrens hospital of Colorado, and Colorado Special Olympics.

If it means I will get more participation I will disclose the fish species in advance.
This month has been Pike.

Sounds great.

Just remember to include the registration form with the payment. And I will send you your Tournament card by email as soon as I get it.
