Lake John 9/25/24

Made the long drive from Longmont to Lake John and wasn't disappointed, in the colors that is. They are spectacular around the Gould area. The fishing -- not so much. I trolled for 5 hours and had a total of two strikes and nothing to show for it. A year ago at this time i did well but the fish must have been full today. Anyway, though it's apparently been a good year up there, not so for me. Btw, there is an algae bloom on the water right now. I don't know if that has anything to do with anything. Just sayin'.

I have always found the NP lakes( Lake Jn and the Delany Brothers) to be full of weeds and moss from August thru almost ice-on. Sometimes they taper off from mid Oct-Thanksgiving--but Im not as enthusiastic about braving the cold anymore. Just a general observation from one guy here. People sure seem to be tight lipped lately. Thought your post would have many responses by now.

There is also some kind of invasive fish species in there. Seems the fish get fat on their many many minnows so you might try minnow patterns. Im sure one of the No Co experts could tell ya. Sickleback somethingorother??
