I just had a call from a buddy in Colorado who said an angler in a kayak or canoe drowned yesterday at the lake can anyone confirm this?

I haven't heard anything yet but there have been some thunderstorms the past few days, so you never know.

ANS inspector told me last summer that a kayaker had drowned earlier. He'd been there and seen it but couldn't get out to help the guy. Maybe this is an old story resurrected.

(Later, edited) - This sounds like the story I heard from the inspector:

He went on about how no one helped the guy, which is what's reported here. But this was 2020, looks like, and no mention of a kayak.

That article says a lot without saying much. A PFD would have saved us all the realization that as a society we donít reach out to help our fellow man any more. Thatís one side of the story, and Iíd be curious to hear the other points of view on what happened. Thatís a sad story if thatís how it all went down.

"the pontoon boat operator stated later that he did not want to traumatize his grandchildren who were in the boat with him, and therefore made the decision to call 911 instead"

Sounds like that was a decision that probably cost a life.
