It's true, the inlet area is popping! Check out the video of me and Pops when you have some time.

Nice! Make sure you get out to the inlet area with a white swim bait or a gitzit bully. Unfortunately not fishing this weekend.

Bro! Now is your chance. They are all hanging by the mouth of the inlet. A shad pattern would probably do it.

Playa!!! If you palm for baitcast reel, you'll get better control and leverage when fighting big fish.

I hate to admit it but I actually don't know what that means! LOL

Big D - Thanks for the tip! I went out there today and caught some wipers from the kayak. I talked to several anglers, at least a couple of whom said they were there because of the YouTube video. But let me add some info here for people thinking of making the drive.

The wipers were no longer at the inlet. There was not any noticeable inflow. I spent some time there and I saw several people boating over there and catching nothing. Also, you cannot fish the inlet from the shore as it is private right there. I saw many shore anglers and talked to several. Most caught nothing and a couple caught only carp. If you fish from shore as close as possible to the inlet, your furthest at cast is only in 3 feet of water. If you bring waders, you can cast into maybe 6 feet of water. All the wipers I caught were deeper than that.

I also saw several boaters catching nothing. So itís not like you can just show up and youíll catch a wiper. You have to be able to get on the water, find them, and then know how to attract them. If you know what youíre doing, you can definitely catch some wipers. But itís not the ďfire inletĒ bite anymore.

The carp on the other hand are going nuts. Definitely a prime carp destination if youíre a carper. Itís just kind of a long drive so hopefully that helps. Iíll post a conditions report too.

Ichbinemmet - was that you in the basstender out there on Thursday? 2 things... If you saw where I was in the kayak, I was catching fish. Second, keep an eye on the weather in that little boat. That lake is notoriously windy and 3 ft waves can crop up in minutes.

Appreciate the heads up eholm! Winds look okay for now but will definitely be cognizant. I havenít been to Jackson lake yet. This is the maiden voyage with my basstender (first boat ever) Iíll be camping there too with some friends. Feel free to reach out if anyone is around! 9082172495

Thanks for the update brother! Looks like I'm gonna have to put in work the next time I'm there. Heading to Pueblo for Memorial Day weekend! Pops and I will be chasing the wipers in party cove and turkey creek!
