I can tell you NP is a week to 10 days behind SP. The streams ore open enough to fish for shizzy but John and Delaneys likely have over a foot of ice still--with standing water over top. No thanks. East could have some open water though.

Skunk Mile has just a few open strips of water near the Marina. Just enough for the fly rod and Cross Creek has some open water in the very shallow area. South side was still locked up except a couple spots with about a foot of open water. Sucker Cove had a little in the bay but everything was skimmed hard this am. Antero had just about 5 feet along the north shore by the pipe---thats it!! Still people ice fishing near the south boat dock.. Oh---there was some open water on the far west end if you want to walk 20-25 minutes.

Any word on Spinney opener?

Fished 3 hours Thursday afternoon near the marina. My fly rod had a nasty tangle so I snipped the leader way back to the thick end (about 15 lb test) and dangled some buggers about 3.5 feet below a pinch-on floaty. The wind was blowing just right so I could snug it to the edge of the shadow under the ice. Its the stuff dreams are made of but I'm afraid the lunkers are in full spawning mode. Skittish and in no mood to eat. Not saying you cant catch a beast but my experience has always been poor when they are that far along in their annual dance. Skim ice put a damper on the next morning---thus the scouting report above. I drove all the way around to Witchers Cove and on to Antero (190 Mi that day). That ought to be worth a cup of coffee from someone. HAHA
