Boat ramp opening dates

Post By: ColoradoRay      Posted: 2/28/2024 12:48:45 PM     Points: 38792
I just read that some of our front range lakes will open for boating soon.
Cherry Creek - March 1
Jackson - March 2
Boyd - they are looking at March 11

ANS inspections will be 8am through 6pm for March. These might vary though.

The fact that the lakes are open water but we cant even hand launch boats in the state parks is crap, (thanks dumba** paddle boarders). Thoughts on starting some sort of Colorado boat fishing coalition would be nice, not all boaters because who cares about the water skiers and boom box boats...

Blue Heron in St Vrain State Park is open as of today as well.

A few more to add to the list-

Chatfield - Monday March 11
North Sterling - Monday March 11
Barr Lake - April 1
Carter and Horsetooth - Talk of opening April 1 but not confirmed.

I don't really have an opinion on hand launch vessels since I don't own or use one. But the restrictions probably have something to do with staffing schedules at the state parks. The north front range has several SWA lakes that you can launch at anytime they are open water. I had my boat out on Douglas Thursday for my first trip of the year. The trout bite was pretty good.
