I am interested in where you can get a snowmobile onto the ice at Turquoise?

ColoradoLightning,

You can access the ice from the dam parking area. Either climb the drift and go right down the big hill, or ride onto the road going across the dam and access from the Abe Lee fishing area. Conditions permitting of course.

We were there Monday. There's about a foot of snow on top of a foot or 10" of slush. We didn't get into the slush until about 900 ft from the Hill of Death on the east side. There were two snow mobiles stuck in the snow at the point going to the main lake which had to be pulled out by a snowcat. There were also two snowmobilers fishing around 1000 ft out from the dam around the middle.

Can snowmachines and ATVs access the ice from the boat ramp instead of the Hill of Death ? I want to get out near the boat ramp but don't want to go through that slush again. Hoping to park the ATV at the boat ramp and walk down to the ice.

cardo,

Under the right conditions you could. I tried it once a few years ago on a snowmobile and the road was ride-able up to the gate which was closed. The snow that time was 16-18 inches deep and heavy, so I didn't go any further. I'd say proceed with caution.

Buddy of mine went up about a week ago said there was a bunch of slush under the snow made it very difficult and there was one snowmobile stuck out in the middle in the slush some guys told him that he could have it if he could get it out
