Tarryall is a go

On 12/6 I fished from 11:30-3:45 near the northwest parking area. I saw about 12 other ice weirdos on the lake. There was no wind, and the temp was 45 at 1:30, and 32 at 4:00. Ice thickness ranged from 6 near shore, to 12 50 yards out from shore.

The water clarity was 10 feet. The ice was firm. The cove held patches of snow mixed with areas of dark blue ice. There was no slush present on the ice.

The best action was from 2 to 3:30 on dead-stick near bottom in 11 feet of water. Rainbows bit mostly on a very small pink split-tail jig tipped with Salmon Peach PB, and a small yellow hard-body ice jig tipped with a waxie.

Thanks for the update Slayer. Me and a buddy were trying to get out for a day this upcoming week. We've only been on the east side. Do you usually fish the west side? Any recommendation for the best Pike opportunities?

Buffchip, this was my second ice trip to Tarryall. The first was a bust on the northeast side 5 years ago. The Fish n Map for Tarryall shows pike and trout together in a few areas nearer the inlet than where I fished. Based on the map, you might consider going north from the NW parking lot some 250 to 350* yards. Or from the NE parking lot, go 150* yards SSE (*these areas are specified on the map). About 4-6 feet of water is a typical pike depth. The map shows no waypoints for Tarryall but these two areas are mentioned.

We needed cleats. Tight lines and keep your spud bar on the ice.
