Hey Everyone! It's been a while! Starting the first week of the year, I got SUPER busy. As some of you know I coach varsity basketball, and I wanted to give my 100% focus on my team this year. We also were hit with the injury bug extremally hard this year with several starters getting hurt for extended periods of time, one for the season...Also going through some life changes with moving, my GF's surgeries from her car wreck from last year (going well), and changing jobs... I didn't fish during this time but now that things are settling down I'm back.
FISHING REPORT: Was out this past Sunday with the GF and we were really looking to hit the ice-off bite.. We arrived and the lake was still frozen completely. This was a bit of a trip for us, so we decided to get our waders on and start breaking up edge ice.
The reservoir drops quickly in depth so we were only able to get a few feet out to break ice...I then blew up my belly boat and took the log I was using and started smashing ice, until about 15-20 feet out. After about an hour of clearing ice with my GF, we had enough water to fish, right at a transition point from the rocky dam wall to the muddy sides. We didn't have much water to fish, so vertical jigging was the way to go...After some time passed, the bite was on fire. We figured we wouldn't get much action for a while since we were so noisy breaking up the ice
It turned into a great day with lots of fish and lots of smiles! After a few hours we decided to let an elderly couple take over the spot, as they had passed by several times and were itching to fish too...Share the wealth right? I have pictures below of the day as well as a video link too for those that have time!
***Long post, thanks if you made it this far 😂😂
