You wait patiently for the coldest months to end. Then you hit it as the ice starts retreating only to face the most brutal hand-freezing weather of the year! You get the occasional bluebird day but my hands never get as cold as they do during early spring. I know in my head that the temps aren't as cold and I am aware of the meteorological conditions which make this happen but it just aint fair!!! OWCH!!! Early ice-out is when I usually harvest one massive lunker. It hurts when you get old!!!
