Spent an interesting day at the boat show yesterday, beautiful weather beautiful surrounding and great people watching.
This show started out with 25 boats or so at a small marina back in 1988 and has become one of the largest in the world now. Very neat to be able to see thousands of floating craft from jet skis to 200’ plus mega yachts all in one place. Hundreds of interesting vendors as well.
I had to share a few shots of the insanity, ( My personal opinion) that’s going on in the outboard area of boating..
The three pictures are all center console style boats, all are equipped with four 12 Cylinder 600 horsepower Mercury engines. These monsters weigh in at about 1500 # each. They cost $80,000.00 each plus installation. The engineers I talked with told me they have put up to six of these on one boat.!
Price tag on these decked out monster rigs can go from about one million to three million and they have waiting lists from buyers, I just have a hard time wrapping my head around this insanity.
