NOCO front range ice fishing slow

Post By: BDF_Beats_GDW      Posted: 1/21/2023 8:33:34 PM     Points: 1449
Is it just me that feels the noco front range ice fishing has been extremely slow to non-existent this year? Or have I just lost my MOJO? Seems I have to drive an hour or two just to get some bites.

Where at in NoCo? Fort Collins area? Im in Longmont and have had decent luck this year, but Boyd have been dead. St Vrain state park has been great for stocked bows, which is kinda getting boring for me but my kids like it. I grew up just north of Laporte and have been wanting to check out the lakes up there. Shame Wellington no 4 is private now....

Has been the slowest for me in about 5 years. Was wondering the same thing, Have great ice but slow bite. Nice getting out there though!

yea, the noco fishing has been off for a while and not just ice. Most foco lakes and ponds have been noticeably off from just a year or two ago. I blame the covid fishing surge and a lot of people not releasing fish. Horsetooth and carter have been good to me for open water fishing, but ive had to hit the hills to get more consistent ice action around here.

It’s the China virus ripple effect. World$!* down, sent everyone outside to get out the house. Lots of stocking didn’t take place that year. Triple the pro fishermen. Lots of keeping but the stocking has lessoned or not available. Lots of places drained several seasons in a row. From what I’ve gathered the odds are against us. Watched lots of favorite spots just depleted from the lack of water. Only time will tell. We have been traveling to find bites this season.

Whew, glad it isn't just me. Well traveling 1 - 3hrs it is I guess. Need to test my truck camper out in the winter but I've been hesitant, afraid the pop top will get stuck up or down. That could make 3hr trips more palletable.

I used my truck and Hallmark camper for 2 nights while skiing. There was new snow and the temperature got down close to zero. The camper lifts worked well.
