One of the places I don't fish as often since moving to Denver from Springs is the dream stream... but with the warm weather for a change yesterday I decided to head out there this week. Water is gin clear, fish are spooky, so light tippet was needed.
Still being relatively new to the fly fishing game I haven't caught too many fish on super small flies during the winter time. So as of now I've only ever caught one fish on a fly size 20 or smaller, and something size 22 I still hadn't caught anything on.
But after switching to a size 22 deep blue poison (small silver and blue midge pattern), I hooked my first fish of the day, which ended up being my first ever cutty on a fly rod, and my first cutty here in Colorado. As far as I can tell, this is a Snake River cut, yes?
Very shortly after netting this fish, I had 2 others hit the same fly in this same stretch of river, landing one of them, being this leopard rainbow pictured. Great day with great weather on the dream.
I'll be posting a video on my IG page later, link is on my page, but I'll post here when I do.
