This is a great fishin' lake for families with kids. My party of five fished from noon to 3:30 on 12/26 with mostly clear sky and light breeze. Ice was 12" thick covered by 1.5 inches of snow. Did not need cleats but they probably will be needed as the forecasted warmer temps arrive later this week. Did not need a hut and water clarity was around 3 feet. Only three or four small groups on the lake at any one time.
We set up about 50 feet from shore in 8.5 feet of water. The bite was good on trouut magnets in red, pink, or chartreuse tipped with waxies, and a dropper two feet above with a scud or Zug Bug fly.
Photos are of first time fish catchers Zekiah and Israel. Zekiah holds two trout he caught on a double lure setup.
Parking here is $8 a car, seniors with a federal senior pass are $4. There is one set of brick restrooms available for use in the winter, and on good weather days picnic tables are handy.
