The lake level was reported as 42% on 11/20/2022 this is the lowest I've seen the lake in 17 years, some of you that have been here a long time, can you remember them drawing down this far?

A HEALTHY HAPPY AND FISHFULL THANKISVING HELLO TO ALL, BE
SAFE OUT THERE.

Seems like I remember the level being drawn way down in the late 80's early 90's not exactly sure. It has been low for so many years that it seems like 50-60% is full anymore

I just checked Spinney’s current storage it’s still at 42%. The thing that alarms me is that Aurora’s current overall storage is only at 57%. Push comes to shove we lose as fishermen. The people will always be first. Prayers are going out that we receive a strong snow year. So far snow totals are better than last year. Spinney is one of the best lakes anywhere in the USA it just needs water.

What’s the website to check? Here are some shots from the last Sunday before it closed. The parking lot is the first undeveloped one just inside the gate.

They have been running the Homestake pipeline since early November to slow fill the lake through the winter months. Last year (2021) and the year before (2020), the same water management pattern was used where the draw down started early in the summer and continued on through the Fall until after the lake closes. Then they turn on the pipeline in November and keeps it running through the Winter months. Here’s a snap shot of the Homestake pipeline water flows.
