I was out there yesterday and the ice blue like a stick of dynamite on the pressure ridge was created from the dam going across the lake, I don't know if I've ever heard it blow that loud and then water gooshed between the cracks some of the cracks had 2 to 3 ft chunks of ice floating if you would have stepped on them you would go right through. One part of the lake slid underneath the other sheet of ice so it was 6 in to 8 in lower than the one side and six to eight inches of water on top. Be very careful should you wonder out there it still may have a few soft spots

That happened to me a couple years ago, first ice at Antero. The shock wave when the ridge gave way lifted my 2 man flip over off the ice and dropped me back down. I sat there and listened to water lapping up against something and bobbed up and down like I was floating for like 30 mins not moving until things firmed up again. Scariest$!* ever, at least when you go through the ice it happens fast, I sat here for 30 mins thinking I would go in any second.

Yikes, those popping pressure ridges sound sketchy!

Yea that definitely was a wild time and will never forget it! First picture is of when we arrived. Second picture is after the boom. Third picture is the ice going under and across the hole. Be safe out there!
