Pompano Beach, Florida

My son and I will be fishing Pompano Beach area in Florida next week and plan to try and catch a variety of fresh and salt water fish. We will hire a guide to fish Lake Ida in Delray Beach to target Peacock Bass and Knife Fish (plus potential for gar, snakeheads. And cichlids).

For salt water we will fish beach, piers, boat ramps, and probably go out on party boat to drift fish. Unfortunately Anglers Pier and Deerfield Beach Pier both are closed due to damage from Hurricane Nicole.

Any tips on must fish areas or boats to go out on are appreciated. Hopefully will have some good pics to share soon.

I fished Lake Ida this Spring with my wife and caught peacock bass and clown knifefish as well as some nice largemouth. If you do not have a guide I would recommend the gent we fished with his name is Skip Steena. I have his number if you would like.

I spend some time fishing around Deerfield Beach which does have a fishing pier you can pay to fish off of...when the tide and season is right you can definitely catch some big fish off the pier and in the troughs off the beach.

Deerfield Pier is out of commission. It got jacked up by Hurricane Nicole. Check out these video clips
