Lake: Twin Lakes

Twin Lakes strategy

Post By: dhoughton96      Posted: 10/25/2022 8:40:51 AM     Points: 0
Hello all,
I am planning a trip up to twin lakes this weekend for a chance at some pre-ice lakers. Any one have any tips, lure suggestions, etc? I have a boat with downriggers, fish finders, etc. Any and all suggestions are welcomed!

Iíve had decent success at Granby lately with tube jigs tipped with sucker meat, but wasnít sure if the strategy was the same for twin lakes?

I have never fished Twin, but tube jigs are universal for lakers imo. Big silver spoons also work well for me pre ice. Bounce them along the bottom and let them flutter down. Lakers should be staging up to spawn right now. I would focus on rocky flats close to deep water. I seem to do the best in smaller rock (softball size) areas that are close to steep drops. Good luck and post pics!

I believe Twin has closed the boat ramps for the season.

Twin indeed closed Sunday 10/16/22 for boats.

That is bad news if I have ever heard it! Thanks for the heads up fellas. I guess Iíll have to wait until next year to let my old Johnson struggle for oxygen at the twin lakes elevation.

Blue Mesa is still open (Elk Creek ramp). Large tube jigs working the bottom in 30-40 fow. does the trick. 3 of us landed 20 plus on friday.
