What Jigheads to use for tying hair jigs?

Post By: Troutbisquits      Posted: 10/18/2022 7:31:54 PM     Points: 1003
For those of you who tie your own jigs I'm curious what jig heads you use. I personally like 1/16 oz heads. I really like the VMC neon moon eye heads, because the hooks are great and it's not too hard to clip off the wire keeper, but they are super pricey. I have been looking at some bulk pack Jig Heads online, but wanted to get some recommendations first.

I ordered some last year for micro swimbaits that have a 2x strong black nickel hook in 1/16 oz from the web. Look for that hook and you'll be happy. They're the right size, extra sharp, and strong. Similar hook that Wapsi Super jigheads are made with. My purchase info went away, but I saw some others available. Some pill heads and some ball heads. Hope that helps. Just look for that style hook. You'll find them.
$14.40 to $18.95 for 50.

I use Waspi jig heads in size 1/32 and 1/64 for ice fishing jigs. and they have been productive.

Hawaiian punch gave me some good advice on what to get at the eagle claw factory store. They were out when I went and I lost the piece of paper I wrote it down on. Id ask him. He has SKUs and everything. Id bet if you made the pilgrimage to the store they would have some good insight as well. Some of those Trokar hooks would likely be a good option.

Thanks for the suggestions all, I've been looking at the Wapsi heads for a while. Seems like people are happy with them
