Fall Colorado River Fishing

Fall fishing is upon us, and not just up in the high country! Showed up to the Colorado river recently before the sun got over the mountains and had a good and also frustrating time getting some good size trout.

Mid 40's temperature...Water visibility was better then normal for over here, with about 2 feet of visibility. The big issue was the amount of vegetation floating all over the water column. 99% of my casts were full of weeds, no matter where I fished my lures. If I had my lure in the water long enough and it didn't get weeds, I got a fish to bite. Caught some good size trout on the HD Brown, Rainbow Trout V2, and got my first fish with the Micro HD fishing some small pockets and shallower water. I was really wanting to focus on Dynamic Lures stuff this day and didn't bring my fly gear, wish I would've, especially with all the weeds.

Hope you all enjoy the pictures below and video link below if you have time!! One of the pictures is of me fumbling a good size rainbow.

Nice shot of the sunrise and good job getting into fish despite the floating moss clumps. They can be a real pain. Thanks for sharing.

It was a real pain to say the least, hoping for less vegetation and hopefully some clearer water next week! Appreciate the comment dunker!!

Not many things prettier than an October wild brown from the river. Moon is right this weekend. You should fling that HD out there in the dark.

Nice catches Tyler! I know where you’re located!😜
That stretch isn’t very long from the corner but has some quality fish in there!
I tried the River for about a 1/2 hr after fishing the Gaps but didn’t get hooked up! I did however get a bunch of moss on almost every cast with my marabou jigs! Thx for the report, I might try again in the next week or two?🎣🤙

I was busy out of town all weekend at my sisters. My uncles really want me to do a night fishing episode too for trout on the river, i'll have to do that before it gets too cold.

Haha it's a great stretch😀🎣 I am thinking of hitting one of the gaps soon in the belly boat. How did you do? Ya the moss is really brutal right now, hoping it clears up some by end of this week.

Not good at all! The water is super low and the Pike feeding on top but couldn’t get a bite! We went to Rifle where I only caught a 22” Pike on a Dynamic Travado Jerkbait!
