Spinney closed to trailer boats after Sept 30

Spinney is closing the boat ramp tomorrow, hand launch only until the end of the season, lake level is below 65% and the ramps are now in the mud.

I was there on Sunday and thought it wasn’t long for this world. Time to bust out the kayak.

Dave
I used it yesterday and had no problems, it’s the bigger boats that have issues
The ramps are in the mud.
If they do the same as previous years we’ll still be able to “ Hand Launch” you just have to slide your toon or small boat under the ramp gate.
I wonder if the fish will start biting? Very slow and not typical for this time of year, the lake is down almost 40% already.

Sounds like BS to me. I can launch without issues. they just wanted an excuse.

Bill and I were there on Thursday, and it is for the best that it closes, as the fishing has been very poor.

Small trailered boats over 18' were tough to manage, as the piece of$!* breakwater was barely 20' away from the dock, leaving very little room to maneuver. The damed Parks people really treat us boaters poorly with their breakwater- half of it is on the shore, it's never deployed upon opening, and won't get pulled out of the lake until the ice damages it even more.

The dock at Spinney is not moved often enough, so it is either very low or very high. Even Twin Lakes folks move their dock daily to accomodate changing water levels.

With the quickly dropping water levels at Spinney, the fish have been tougher to target. Most of the fishermen I spoke with on Wed. and Thurs. said they caught a few, but no ONE bait was effective, just keep changing lures over and over.

I have the boat hooked up now and was planning on going in the morning. So the north boat ramp is for sure closed. DOW web site doesn’t state the closure?
