River: South Platte - Eleven Mile Canyon

eleven mile canyon

Post By: Troutfool      Posted: 9/12/2022 3:11:36 PM     Points: 22
I have fished the Arkansas years and done very well spin fishing lures and flies with a single barbless hook.

I would like to fish where I don't have to do a lot of rock climbing I'm 77 would prefer not to climb a lot.

Would Eleven Mile Canyon or the Drean Stream be a good spot. Any suggestions is appreciated

Iím 74, the canyon, if you are just a bit agile and sure footed will be just fine. If I can do it you can too.

Dream Streamers sometimes are not big on non fly guys.

I will give you he canyon a try. Seems like every part of society is angry at something.

Canít understand why fishing with 4lb test line with a fly and bubble is so offensive.

Having fished the dream stream since I moved to Colorado, I can say that it's a very easy stream to walk. However, with the lack of anything covering the edge of the stream, the fish are pretty spooky.
No issue with bringing your ultralight and throwing an in-line spinner. You might get some odd looks, but typically the biggest issue is people using stuff that's illegal like you know, eggs or anything else that's not under the "artificial flies and lures only" umbrella.
If you're looking for any other info on the dream, go ahead and reach out to me personally on my skipper link.

It's not to people who don't suffer from a non-height induced Napoleon complex. It's also perfectly legal and a great way to fish.

The lower and upper parts of the Canyon are not hard to get around. From the Dam down to just above the railroad tunnels is not bad getting around, and neither is the area from the steel bridge down to where the entry is to Camp Alexander. The area where the two railroad tunnels is at has some great spots, but isn't what you are looking for. It's a tough haul. There are some nice spots around the bridge area below the top campground. If you have waders, it's even better.
