They say time spent fishing isn’t subtracted from our allotted time here on Earth. Time spent fishing with your dog must add time back.
Sure it’s a little challenging to fish with Junebug in the water, but for me, she adds to the experience. Her excitement, wonder and joy are contagious.

[log in for link] Location: Lower Crater Lake via the South Boulder Creek trail in the James Peak Wilderness Area. 6 mile round trip hike with 1,389’ of elevation gain.
Fishing: Brook trout cruise the edge of the lake and the drop off looking for anything and everything to eat. They will readily take a well-placed dry fly or small nymph. While sighting fish is easier with calm water, a light wind/chop gives the fish confidence. Cast in front of risers or shadows. A dry with short (6-12 inch) dropper works well. Casting is difficult with all the trees – either cast sideways along the shore or roll cast to the drop off. Dry Files: Griffith’s Gnat (16-22), Parachute Adams (18-22), Ant patterns (14-22) Nymphs: RS2 (18-22), Mercury Midge (18-22), Brassie (18-22), Rainbow Warrior (18-22).
