Long Time Ago

It has been 54 years since I caught my last smallmouth bass until yesterday. Have to admit, my focus had been elsewhere, but it sure was nice to catch a feisty smallmouth as I drew up the white jig along the rocks. Missed a few too and was fun to see them in attack mode within the last few feet of line retreival. The last ime I caught a small mouth was with my long departed dad in a lake back east. Yesterday brought back a wonderful memory of dad, especially with Fathers Day drawing near.

I belly boated this lake too, and drifted with the wind. But after one lap, the chop got a little aggressive and did shore fishing. It is a fun lake to fish if you are down this way!

54 years is a long time. Bass are not my thing either, but I do go on a binge a few times every year. Can totally relate to that bringing back memories of your Dad. Mine's been gone about 20 years & I still think of him every time I catch one. This picture is from about 1970. Catch and release never crossed his mind. We ate every one that he caught. Different times.
