I Guess They Really Do Exist. Surprise Catch!

Well I guess they really do exist in Ralph Price. I had heard from several rangers and fisherman up at Ralph Price (Button Rock) that there were walleyes in the reservoir but never caught one until this weekend. Saved me from a skunk. I've caught a ton of walters in my life but this one was probably the prettiest. He was so spotty that he looked like a saugeye at times. We took him home per the recommendations of the Rangers. Upon cleaning him he was found to be full of baby brown trout fry so then I was extra happy to have kept such a big male. He was nearly 19".

Here's a video of our beautiful morning hike up:https://youtu.be/kYewYP6gxvE

almost always fun when the unexpected gets on the line.

Thanks for all the positivity! I think it might actually be a Saugeye. There also one guy in my comment section that refuses to believe that the Ranger's have told me and several other fishing buddies that they are not supposed to be in RP and that we should be keeping them.

Man I thought architects thought they knew everything but it's fisherman, fisherman, who do LMAO!

Anyone know if those count towards the 2 fish limit?

I think they don't count towards the limit because it's pretty explicit that they are referring to trout only as follows:

Colorado Parks & Wildlife Regulations for Ralph Price Reservoir

1.Possession and bag limit for trout shall be two trout

I'll echo you there Lance, that "2 fish" in the limit is referring to trout only. My guess is that they don't want too many walleye or saugey for that matter competing with trout for forage.

It happened again last night but this time 21"! LOL. Now I am really curious how many there are in there.
