Quebec Red Trout

Good Morning
I just got back from a fishing trip to try to catch a Quebec Red Trout. And was successful at catching one the rarest fish salmonids in North America.
The Quebec Red Trout is a landlocked Arctic Char, same subspecies of Arctic Char of Maine (Sunapee & Blueback) and formally of New Hampshire. These guys a different subspecies of char than what we have in Dillon Reservoir.

Not a lot of information out there but there is just enough if you dig deep enough. And I should also mention that there are plenty of guides/outfitters/camps that say they do have the Quebec Red but most are just a different color brook trout.

I was doing just fine, trying to catch one of each species, and now you gotta throw out "one of the rarest salmonids"

dolly varden = red trout? or do dollies have access to the sea but just dont go out?

Just wanted to say thanks to all the replies and views.

Dolly Varden does not equal Quebec Red Trout. Quebec Red Trout are a subspecies of arctic char which is similar to Dolly Varden but a different subspecies.

Char = genus Salvelinus
Bull Trout = Salvelinus Confluenus
Brook Trout = " " Fontinalis
Aurora Trout = " " Fontinalis Timagamiensis
Lake Trout = " " Namaychus
Southern Dolly Varden = " " Malma Lordi
Northern Dolly Varden = " " Malma Malma
North American Arctic Char = " " Alpinus Erythrinus
Blueback/Sunapee/Quebec Red = " " Alpinus Oquassa

The blueback/sunapee/Quebec Red are landlocked populations.
