Georgetown tips

Post By: ratherbefishing      Posted: 3/11/2022 4:43:22 PM     Points: 110
Hitting Georgetown before a side job, using tungsten tipped shrimp and waxies..first time fishing it, know its a fairly shallow lake. Should I look for humps or try shallow and work my way out. Anything helps! Thanks

Use someone else's auger . . .G-town wrecks auger blades.
G-town has a ton of sand in it's ice from the high way dept sanding I-70 and the wind blowing the sand over the lake.

G-town don't have any fish that interest me.I suspect it's mostly put and take trout and tons of tourist/FNGs,but thats just my two cents worth.

Search & rescue were out there on Saturday, around 1:00. Be careful anywhere near the bridge. There is a flow there and is most often open water or very thin ice. Unfortunate that there is now a bar right there.

If you can find them, there is a good population of both browns and brookies. I've had luck fishing along the channel on the small lake on the south side of the bridge.

Years ago there was quite a collection of ice huts on the rocks below the dam that had blown over in the high winds that Georgetown is notorious for.

Looking down at them gave me the willies.
Don't know if they've ever been cleaned up.

@El Jefe, they have been cleaned up. I explored that area last year and no sign of them.
