Late post but got to do a fishing trip with my dad the 1st week in Sept. We rented a small cabin with waterfront access to the south fork of the rio grande, where we were able to catch some brown and rainbow trout, nothing bigger then 13 inches, but kept us interested in between beverages in the evenings.
But we also took day trips out and fished the main branch of the river between South Fork and Creede. Had a great time getting into some bigger browns, and a couple nice rainbows. I ended up with a nice 16 inch rainbow and brown, maybe pushing bigger but i didnt actually measure. My dad struggled a bit, as he mostly fishes lakes on the east coast, but he got into some medium sized browns on the main river.
Overall great time and a great time of year to be out on the water.
