Fishing/Water level?

Post By: Twilly73      Posted: 9/28/2021 9:53:35 AM     Points: 563
Any clue if there's any water/fish left up here? My dad wants to get out somewhere, and loves this area, but we don't want to make the 2+ hour drive up to find it drained. I'll call the ranger station as well, but didn't know if any of you had been up somewhat recently. Thanks for any and all information!

I haven't been up there for about a month but when I was it was about 25 feet low. Still nice and deep and plenty of brookies in there however. I fished it a few times in the early summer and did fair each time with the water even lower than it was a few weeks ago.

Thanks for the follow up ND. Looks like me and pops will have to make the drive up and see if we can get into any. He's not super mobile, but can make the hike around from the parking area. Hoping to make the trip up either this or next weekend before it gets too cold. I'll report back when we return. In the meantime, good luck and thanks again!

We hiked there last week and although the water was low there was still plenty ( about a 1/3 mile long ) but the few fishermen we talked to said it was very slow. Road up is driveable with a decent truck/suv. Good luck with your Dad !

Took Pops up on Friday, 10/8 around 10:30am. Fished the north east bank, kind of moving from the dam westward along the bank. Used various spinners, spoons, trout magnets, and ended up only catching on live worms bottom rigged. Only caught 3, kept two for dinner, and left early afternoon due to cold/windy conditions. Good to be out again, just wish the fishing was a little better for him. Thought about walking the creek (outlet) but didn't want to push our luck (weather wise). Likely our last trip up this year, but we'll definitely come again next year, hopefully to better results.
