Fish: Brown Trout

The Colorado River is getting nuts!

Post By: Team CO.F.F.      Posted: 9/16/2021 6:59:10 PM     Points: 86
The Colorado River is 🔥🔥🔥 right now over here on the Western Slope! I went out with my GF and my dad and we had a tremendous day landing several trout species, including a bunch of big ones

We used several different patterns of Dynamic Lures HD Trout, with the hot pink/bubblegum being the most productive of them all. I did some light field testing with the unreleased Z-spec jerkbait and it got a nice size brown as well!

Waterflow is still pretty high but visibility has gotten a few inches better since last weekend. Can't wait for that FALL BITE😀 I attached one of my GoPro's to my net and got some neat shots... Hope you all enjoy the pictures, video link below as well!!

Thanks Harper! Cool to hear you did so well down there, I am making it a point to fish at least 2 or 3 rivers I haven't fished yet before the year is over. Hoping that is one of them! Sorry to hear about the poison ivy😶😶

The flows are still right at 600 cfs. Good news is that two weeks ago both upper and lower were muddy. Sunday they were almost back to Gunny green. Early bite on the lower river. Caught 12 by 9, then the bite died. Off before the flotilla got there.

Bharper - I was fishing down below Pleasure Park on a weekday. Did not get started until after 10 am. I fished for 3 hours and caught 3 small browns. There was almost never a time when there were not 1 or 2 rafts or drift boats within sight. It just seemed that the fish have been pounded very hard and even the ones I could see just moved over a few inches and let my lure go by. I tried several different offerings from Dynamic Lures, but maybe i just don't have the twitch. Too bad about the poison ivy, there are places along the river where it is legion.

Wmdunker my friend went back a few days after him and I went! He only ended up catching half as many! Both times he walked down into the canyon. So it slowed down a little!
