Fish: Smallmouth Bass

Couple days of fishing this past weekend

Fun times out this past weekend, grindy day battling the weather in the mountains for day one. Trout was that mission but it failed, although we did land into several suckers😂...so I decided to escape the bad weather and go for some warmwater species instead for day 2. Landed some nice fish on the ned rig! 1/20oz with a california craw patterned Rattlin Ned soft plastic.

Hope you enjoy the pictures, video link below if you have time😀
***The video is prefaced with a few announcements, including our next livestream but I left chapters on the scroll bar if you just want to see the fishing🎣

I was at one of the lakes on the Mesa last week that has Fathead minnows and saw them schooling in little boils on the surface. I fished for a couple of hours from my kayak and the only trout I saw was a 5 inch long dead brown trout. I was not even marking any on my sonar so I am writing that lake off as a winter kill. There was lots of aquatic vegetation in the shallows and lots of algae in the water. I had to wonder if the dissolved oxygen was getting really low since the water was quite warm for ზk elevation, but I do not really know.

Another good one / thanks. 16" smallmouth will make my day anytime. Foul-hooking suckers looks way more fun than what I'm doing this week.

Sorry for the super late reply, been away from my computer most of the weekend out in the mountains fishing...Fishing has been slow up there the past few weeks...Besides the tiger trout day, it's been pretty tough. I caught the skunk yesterday, even though the trout were jumping like crazy...Vertical jigging was the answer today for some nice cuttys (i'll post that Tuesday). Thanks for the kind words everyone!!
