Fish: Cutthroat Trout

Idaho/Montana Cutthroat Trip

Post By: Herf      Posted: 7/22/2021 4:01:11 PM     Points: 141
Hello Everyone

Me and my brothers just got back from Idaho/Montana to try to catch each new type of subspecies of cutthroat. Was unable to complete our goal due to wildfires in the Clearwater River Basin.

Also the first picture is like the "bible" of cutthroats, goes to great depth about the fish and the whole biology/genetics of all the different subspecies of cutthroat.

Enjoy

Awesome pictures. That's about as close as one can get to an epic Lewis and Clark expedition in the modern world. Appreciate the book reference too ---- will have to get one of those. Wildfire is a good excuse to go back and finish your quest.

Nice looking fish but not as beautiful as our greenbacks here in Colorado. Thanks for sharing and I bet it was not very crowded up there.

Looks like you had a good time. I try to hit Pend Oreille at least 1 or 2 times a year. Truly beautiful country up there!

I checked fish Fish Explorer this morning, and just wanted to say thank you for all of the kind words.
It is very exciting for me to scratch off a new subspecies of trout and on this trip was able to do it a few times.
As for the book that I referenced, it is a great book with so much information but it is pricey.
And as for the pictures, I did my best to take a quick picture trying to keep them in the water and/or in the water in the rubber net as long as I could.

So once again - thanks for all of the kind words and yes it is amazing country that part of Idaho/Montana.
