Fish: Bluegill

To think we almost left...

The fishin mission was big bluegill and although we got the mission accomplished, we certainly had to work for it. The lake we hit was really low and it certainly changed the layout of vegetation that my friend and I were used to, when it comes to the vegetation in the water. We fished about 3/4 of the lake from the bank and after multiple hours of fishing, had one BIG bluegill between the two of us(10 inches on the dot)...We were discouraged and on our heading out and decided to fish one last spot.......Thank goodness we did!!

Largemouth bass were stacked in the section of water we were fishing, and a few were even on beds. Along with them were a handfull of fat bluegill as well. We stayed and fished the next few hours and had an incredible time!

Ned Rigging with 1/16oz -1/20oz ball head jigs and mushroom head jigs, with either 2" green pumpkin colored swimbaits or the small rattlin ned from googan baits (California Craw) landed all our fish. Bass ranged from 1LB to a little over 3 LBS but all fat...Bluegill ranged from 8 inches to a little over 10 inches with 2 MA Gills landed for the day.

Those 'gills are something special. I've still never kissed a fish, but I'd be tempted to take a big bite out of those things.

I have not seen that lake that low since they drained if over 10 years ago. Way to hang in there and turn the grind into a slay fest.

Enjoyed the video guys! Way to go on the MA gills Remy! I really liked the venue on this one...like hitting sloughs, inlets, and spillways.

Hopefully it doesn't get drained again!! I was happy we hit that last spot for sure, we were pretty unmotivated by then.

Appreciate that man, always glad to hear when you enjoy!! Remy was the only one landing fish for the first part of the day. I thought for sure I was going to get the skunk. We should've started there 😂😂😂

theres several lakes that i know of that have big bluegills. in reality every reservoir that has bluegills in it probably has big ones in there. if you go to pueblo go to the south marina in the summer and look in the water at the docks and you will see huge bluegills. your not allowed to fish off of the docks there but they are fun to look at.
