So last Saturday I decided to go to Antero instead of Spinney with one goal in mind...knock off the Tiger Muskie off the ol bucket list. I had an idea of where i wanted to fish and decided to troll out to that spot...got a little distracted by landing 3 trout before i got past the island off the south parking lot.
Got to my spot and tied on a small swimbait and started casting towards the taller weeds. Maybe 5 minutes of casting I pulled the bait over the weeds and let it drop...and got to watch a tiger that had been following it dart down and smash the bait! soo cool to be able to see the strike in the crystal clear water!
Mission Accomplished...spent the rest of the morning trying to get another...broke off on what could have been another (in my head it will be a giant tiger muskie lol) and also wound up landing close to 20 trout, mostly browns in the 16-18" range. Winds picked up as usual but more than I thought they would. wound up pulling in my biggest trout of the day at just over 20" while trying to surf the waves back to my truck.
