Spring river fishing

The Big Thompson all through the canyon continues to produce and have great flows, pre-run off. Trout are often visible and are spread out in all the normal feeding runs. I caught them yesterday on a black foam sailor ant with hare's ear dropper...about 50/50 on top and the dropper. my buddy mostly used rs2's and also got into them. Mix of mostly browns and a few bows...more small ones than usual but plenty of the normal Big T 11-12 inchers. Hit the section just below the lake in the afternoon but someone turned on the wind tunnel and it was brutal to cast and i think the choppy white water on the surface turned off the bite but we got a couple on the terrestrial. When that area is inevitably crowded, there are plenty of willing trout in the many miles downtream to drake. Enjoy...off to the yampa tailwater below stagecoach for the first time next weekend, my friend netted a 28 inch bow for a desparate and grateful stranger there a couple weeks ago
